this was based on Spectrum Studios rate sheet (and possibly on an old House

• Custom Suits

custom suit.

1. If suit modifications are substantial or we can’t accommodate the
needed adjustments. We can advise you of that after you give us your
talent’s measurements.

2. If shooting for more than 8 days with the same actor, then it
becomes cost beneficial for you to choose the custom suit fee.

o Add $25/hour of seamstress fitting and alteration time

o Please note that all suits remain the property of the capture
studio

• Markers

SEVICE BUREAU GENERAL ASSUMPTIONS

General rates do not usually include a fee for pre-production time.

General rates do not usually include any talent fees, costuming, props or
their respective supervisors.

Shoot crew usually includes only those listed. Any additional crew
required, such as an AD, will be done at an additional cost.

Only actions that take place within the good data areas of the capture
volume will be trackable…inexperienced staff at service bureau’s may not
know how to aim cameras properly, the studio may try and use fewer cameras
than should actually be used, because they don’t have them and may end up
making up the missing data

General rates do not usually include any special rigging, wires, safety
equipment, etc.

General rates usually include stage “as is”—it does not include any special
preparation (i.e. set up for a basketball game, or aiming of cameras).

General rates may or may not include minimal craft services for
approximately 10 people, not including Studio staff. Included which may be
supplied are standard items such as bagels and coffee in the morning and
fruit and cookies in the afternoon. The rates usually do not allow for
meals, special food, drinks, etc.

The delivery file formats listed are usually for a standard pipeline. The
standard pipeline may need to be modified slightly for certain projects.
Additional costs may be incurred, depending on what is required and the
extent of the pipeline modification.

For tracking requests the service bureau will usually supply the client with
a tracking order form. The Client will provide the service bureau with
selects and frame counts per shot, not per character within a shot. If
there is a markered prop in the shot, ordering the prop is not optional.
Note: It is not always necessary to provide frame counts if you choose to
simply order all the useable action in a take.

Only paid for shots will be tracked.

A large scale full CG feature film can expect to pay between $ 800,00 – $
3,000,000 for one movie’s worth of motion capture, if a service bureau is
used.

A video game can expect to pay $ 125,000- 300,00, for each game, depending
on amount and types of motion captured.

Is this rate sheet missing post-animation costs?  Looks like solving to a character model is as far as this goes...

yes it is missing that stuff.

the company I worked for at that time didnt do anything past delivering the motion onto a skeleton.
if anyone has numbers for skeleton and beyond integration or mocap animation / retargetting work please feel free to post.

Also these rates are very out of date, fyi.
they are, if anything, on the low side of what it costs nowdays to shoot with a service bureau.

I've seen rates that are much higher in recent days.

they are just a ballpark, at this point.
